New Library Trustee!
Millis Public Library
The Millis Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of our newest Library Trustee, Diane Jurmain. Diane moved to Millis (from Medfield) in 2006. She lives here with her husband, Pete, and their two pugs. She runs a consulting business, Jurmain & Partners.
Diane has been a Trustee of the Library Trust Fund in Medfield and is currently a member of the Permanent Building Committee in Millis.
Thank you to all Millis Residents!
On Monday evening, June 14, 2010, at just a little past midnight, Millis voters voted overwhelmingly to approve the debt exclusion for the library construction project. With a vote of 663 to 152, Millis Voters approved the Construction Project for a New Millis Library!
The Trustees and Friends of the Millis Library and all of the Library staff thank you all for your input and your consideration of this issue.
We are now moving forward with the next steps in the process, including signing a contract with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Permanent Building Committee and the Trustees will be working together as this new library takes shape. Please feel free to contact library staff with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,

New Children’s and Youth Services Librarian
There is a new face at the Millis Public Library, and it belongs to Laura Grant, the new Children’s and Youth Services Librarian! Laura joined the staff on January 14th, and she is excited to be part of this vibrant community.
Laura has an extensive background in children’s and young adults’ services—including toddler storytimes and young adult book talks. Employed at the Watertown Free Public Library for two years, Laura brings a repertoire of flannel board storytimes, songs, crafts and music. She is truly prepared for anything!
Her talents for storytelling have also been showcased in her outside—i.e. out of the library—experiences, which have included performances with Improv Boston as a comedian. In addition, she also is a skilled surfer, and an accomplished knitter! Laura holds an undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire, and will have her Master’s of Library and Information Science degree conferred in May 2010. As a librarian, Laura’s focus of study has been in the field of children’s and young adult services.
